Grenada Ground Transportation
Before you go on vacation, you need to figure out how you are going to get from one place to another. You do have options for getting around Grenada; buses and taxis are readily available. Of course, to see everything on the island that you will want to see, you will need to go off the bus route and travel into the more rural areas, and this requires your own car. Below is information of all of Grenada’s ground transportation.
Grenada Ground Transportation:
Buses, Taxis, and Car Rentals.
Bus Service
The public buses in Grenada are great for getting around town and in the more populous parts of the island. While there is a bus station and bus stops are easy to find in St. George’s, outside of town you will need to hail it, just like a cab. Just keep your eye out for the buses and minibuses, wave your hand, and they will stop! Expect to spend between EC $1.50 and $5 on bus fare.
Taxi Service
Taking a taxi to and from the airport can be convenient, and calling a cab after a night of dancing and Mai-tais is highly recommended, and luckily Grenada taxi service is abundant so you will never need to worry about finding one. The taxis are not cheap, however, and fares are significantly higher after hours, so they are best left as a secondary mode of transportation or you will find your budget sky-rocketing. Rates range from EC $10 to $40 one way during daytime hours.
Car Rental
The best way for getting around Grenada is with a rental car. There is a plethora of agencies to choose from at the airport as well as around St. George’s. Read more information on driving in Grenada as well as a list of all car rental companies.
